The Independence Seaport Museum is a repository of art, artifacts and archival materials documenting the maritime history of the Port of Philadelphia and the other urban ports of this region.
Also, museum educates youth, presents exhibits and hosts visiting ships and events year-round.
The mission of the museum is to collect, preserve and interpret and make available the maritime heritage for the society.
Independence Seaport Museum explores all aspects of maritime history, from commercial shipping and shipbuilding to navigation, immigration, defense, outdoor recreation, the environment and underwater exploration.
