The ,,Michigan Maritime Museum" shows the nautical history of Michigan in five separate buildings. You can learn some informations about boats and ships and you can also visit the regionally renowned research library. At the vaste sandy beaches the museum organize different waterfront festivals and other events.
It also displays the visitors a exhibition about ,,War on the Great Lakes" 200 years ago! You can see exhibit houses historic documents, weapons, different paintings and many other things about the maritime nation.
Very interesting is the reproduction of a big sailing ship which is the only ship with floating classrooms. It is also possible to sail on yourself in different boats. There are many places on the river where you can make a picnic or chill out.
In Summer 2012 the Maritime Museum got the famed yacht Bernida. This yacht won a race in 1925 and again in 2012!
