The "Inciralti Sea Museum" in Izmir, Turkey invites you to learn more about Turkish marine culture and the navy. It displays the ships TCG Ege Fırkateyni and TCG Pirireis Denizaltısı, which were turned into museums after completing active service.
Thus you will have the opportunity to get to know maritime practices from real ships, the technical systems of which have been preserved.
On the website they provide detailed information and even a virtual tour of the TCG Ege and the TCG Pirireis.
Besides the exhibition halls about these two vessels, there are several others, e.g.: on "Sailing Tools" or "Turkish Naval Forces History Since Ottoman Empire".
Furthermore you will be able to find out about the origin of Turkish names for wind, why mariners eat haricot beans every Monday, as well as why the Koran is hung on every ship’s mast and every order from the shipmaster starts with “Bismillah” (in the name of Allah).
