Shipwreck Museum Bredasdorp

If you are looking for an unusual exhibition the "Shipwreck Museum" in Bredasdorp, South Africa, might just be what you are searching. Located close to the Southern Overberg coastline, the museum has a number of donated items on display, which mostly are the only remains of the 130 ships, who sank due to the hidden reefs and sandy shallows of "The Graveyard of Ships".

The survivors of these catastrophes had a great influence on the region as it is today, since numerous places have been named after the vessels, lost to the sea. One example is the town "Arniston", whose name origins from the british East Indiaman, that collided with the coast on 30th of May, 1815.

The museum is divided in three sections and offers a nice view over the equipment of the ships and the technology of the past. For more information, please visit the homepage of the Bredasdrop Shipwreck Museum via this link.
