The Royal Marines Museum depicts history of the Royal Marines from 1664 through to present day. Personal stories of wars, battles and events of great significance, make the history of the Royal Marines comes to life.
While exploring the Royal Marine Museum you can learn about the lives of the extraordinary people who have become Royal Marines. The archive collection at the Royal Marines Museum contains approximately a million and a half documents relating to the history of the Royal Marines.Much of the archive collection is unofficial, personal accounts, letters, diaries and ephemera etc along with maps, posters, and plans ranging from landing craft to barrack buildings.
The vast collections of objects and paintings tell the story of the Royal Marines. They are mostly made up of objects donated by the public as well as serving and former Royal Marines. The Royal Marines Museum collection has more than a million photographs, a million documents and 30,000 objects connected with the Marines' history.
