Maritime Museum of Crete

The "Maritime Museum of Crete", located at the entrance of the historical fortress "Firka" at the old port of Hania, promotes the nautical traditions and history of the island.

The exhibits are organized chronological from the Copper Ages until today, including over 2500 items, such as relics, objects found in the bottom of the sea, painitngs, ship models, nautical equipment and so on. 

They also hold one exhibition with shells from all over the world.

One highlight is the museum´s project of constructing a Minoan Ship which they did with the use of original materials, tools and procedures of the 15th century BC.
