Aegean Maritime Museum

The garden of the Aegean Maritime Museum, aside from displaying the lighthouse, has a number of ancient sailors' marble gravestones collected from the islands of Mykonos and Delos.

The Aegean Maritime Museum is situated on the island of Mykonos. It promotes the Greek maritime history and tradition, shows the evolution and activities  of the merchant ship, chiefly in the region of Aegean Sea.

It includes many exhibits e.g. ship models from the Minoan period until the beginning of the 20th century, maps, ancient items and tools. The museum's library consists of more than 5000 rare books , manuscripts and photos.

It was the first museum in Greece that rescued historical exhibits as they were originally designed. In spite of being small, the museum is worth an hour's visit or more.
