Fort Qaitbey Egypt

Fort Qaitbey is an impressive building, which was established in 1477 by Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa'it Bay and was used as a defensive forttress. It is located on a narrow peninsula was one of the ancient wonders of the world, the famous lighthouse, where the Pharos once stood. The Fort now houses a naval museum. You'll need about an hour to explore the rooms and towers, as well as the museum which houses some interesting weapons. The Fort also offers beautiful views of the city of Alexandria as well as the Mediterranean.
